I have always dreamt of meadows and a land of enchantment since I was a little girl. My fascination with faerie folklore began with Peter Pan & Tinker Bell. However, it was my mother's Grims' Fairytale Book and beautiful sketches of fairies that charmed my mind. There are so many legends about these magical beings. Some say they are fallen angles that were not evil enough to go to hell. Others say they are our dearly departed. Then there are the legends of the Seelie and Unseelie faeries. Legends of this culture has been around for thousands of years spanning the globe.
My roots are deep in Scotland. My name is Heather. There is a legend of the Heather Pixies that rome and play mischievous pranks on those in their land. I believe my name suits me in that way. Like so many of the faerie folk, I too am not fond of elm trees. I love things that have an earthy aroma. Maybe somehow I am a changeling. Whatever, these folk are not in this world but in another realm that exists throughout time. I believe they are good but definitely mischievous. During Al Halows Eve and Gaelic Samhainn are days of to be very careful of the dead and the faeries. They come out for their last revelry before winter. They say if you join their dance you will lose years of your life in a single moment.
This year I am dawning a Pirate Faerie costume. Disney does a series of Disney Fairies and their latest was The Pirate Fairy. I have always been mischievous, rebellious and magical.
So Happy Halloween and Samhainn!
